VCW Wrestling’s 4th Annual Iron Man Rumble is in the bag and it certainly was an event none in the company will soon forget. Starting with the Iron Circle Match itself, a totally new concept for the annual event, which saw 4 men qualify to face Champion Nick Watts in a 5 man elimination main event for the title..
The crowd was hot all night and I was absolutely amazed by the action. Former Openweight Champion Buck Gunderson became the first man to ever hold the title twice after defeating Nick wants and three other competitors the five-man elimination match finale.
That’s not where the action ended mind you. Immediately after match, Gunderson’s second for the night, Commonwealth Commissioner TB Doyle came out and quit live on the air, extremely angered by the fact that Goliath Ayala was being given permission to cash in his SuperBrawl contract. Doyle himself had stopped Ayala from cashing in the contract in the past and after an official apology and arranged that the contract could only be cashed in if stated to authorities BEFORE the opening bell of a match, not after.

Since the Ironman Rumble event is always for the title, Ayala secretly flew in with intentions of facing the winner. Herschel Ben Levi supposedly approached the Commissioner and let him know that Ayala would be cashing in his contract after the match. Even though this is completely legal, it infuriated the Commissioner to the point of him quitting his position before the cash in.
Doyle flashed his official managers license and joined Gunderson in his corner but it was all for naught as Ayala defeated the exhausted new champ. This has now raised questions about who is the rightful #1 contender and will recieve a return title match, Gunderson or Watts. The VCW Board is scrambling now to vote in a new president and says it will make a proper announcment on the matter soon.
Although it was a tremendous night all around, Buck Gunderson became a two-time Champion and should be proud, the image of Goliath Ayala raising the title above his head at the end of the evening and strapping the belt around his waist will leave a bad taste in my mouth for a good while.
